As initiated by the late Patriarch Dimitrios in 1989, every September 1st has been designated as a day of prayer for the protection of the environment by the Christian Orthodox Church. In this year’s message, HAH the Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew referred to the constant degradation of the environment and to the current economic crisis that concerns the entire world.
